Kathua | : Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma Thursday visited the Lakhanpur entry point to oversee the ongoing restoration works of assets damaged during the recent flooding in River Raavi.
The DC inspected the restoration works being executed by Tourism and Animal Husbandry, whose assets were among the worst affected due to floods triggered by the torrential rains.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned executing agencies to expedite the restoration process to ensure early revival of the affected infrastructure. He further stressed the need to initiate preventive measures and create durable flood-resilient structures to minimize damage in future.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of work on the upcoming Multi-Sport Indoor Stadium at Kathua. Observing that the Project is nearing completion, the DC directed the executing agency to pace up efforts to make the facility ready for public use before the Diwali festival.
He emphasized adherence to the DPR specifications, including the quality of construction and finishing work to ensure that the facility serves as a state-of-the-art indoor sports complex for local youth.
The DC was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Surinder Mohan Sharma, officers from the concerned departments and representatives of the executing agencies.
