Jammu |:  The Law Enforcement Wing of the Department of Agriculture Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday carried out extensive inspections and checking at various Agri-input distribution centres across district Samba.

The exercise was conducted under the directions of Balbir Singh, Director Law Enforcement, J&K and the supervision of Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Jammu. The inspection drive covered several areas, including Rarian, Swankamorh, Ramgarh and Nandpur. Prominent agri-input centres such as Brothers Agro Chemicals, Ramgarh and Jai Chandi Maa, Rarian village were thoroughly checked.

The inspection team led by Yog Raj Sharma, Enforcement Inspector Samba carried out detailed checks to ensure the quality of agri-inputs, prevent malpractices and safeguard the interests of the farming community. The inspections focused on strict enforcement of the Seed Act 1955, Insecticides Act 1968 and Fertilizer (Control) Order 1985 (FCO).

During the operation, 35 pesticide samples were lifted for laboratory testing. Additionally, a stop-sale notice for 4,600 kg of bio-fertilizer and a seizure notice for 20,845 kg of bio-fertilizers were issued due to violations of the FCO 1985 provisions. All relevant documents, including licenses, sale/purchase bills, stock registers and POS machine records were thoroughly examined to verify compliance.

Certain irregularities were detected and necessary action has been initiated against the concerned parties. Defaulters were cautioned about stringent legal action in the event of future violations.

Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Singh, Director Law Enforcement, J&K stated that the Enforcement Wing is committed to ensuring the availability of genuine and quality agri-inputs to the farmers. Strict action will continue against any malpractice that undermines the farming community’s interests.
