Prime Minister Condoles Darjeeling Deaths, Monitors Rain and Landslide Situation
NEW DELHI/DARJEELING: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today condoled the tragic loss of lives due to a bridge mishap in Darjeeling, which has been severely affected by heavy rains and landslides.
In a statement posted on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister expressed his profound sorrow over the incident and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
“Deeply pained by the loss of lives due to a bridge mishap in Darjeeling. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon,” Shri Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister further assured that the central government is actively monitoring the situation and is committed to supporting those impacted by the disaster.
“The situation in Darjeeling and surrounding areas is being closely monitored in the wake of heavy rains and landslides. We are committed to providing all possible assistance to those affected,” he added.
The bridge mishap, reported amid torrentially heavy rainfall, has led to casualties and widespread disruption in the Darjeeling region. Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations as the region grapples with the aftermath of the severe weather conditions.
