Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. LG Sinha Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to Pujya Mahatma Gandhi on his Janm-Jayanti, highlighting Bapu’s ideals of non-violence, truth, tolerance, and compassion. He emphasized society’s responsibility to instill these values in the younger generation.
2. LG honoured J&K Police Martyrs: LG Sinha this week addressed the closing ceremony of the 20th J&K Police Martyr’s Memorial Football Tournament, lauding the selfless service and supreme sacrifice of police personnel. He underscored their pivotal role in maintaining security, stability, and a safe environment for the Union Territory’s progress.
3. Youth Urged To Drive Development Through Art : At the valedictory of ‘Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang’, an art workshop held under Sewa Parv this week , LG Sinha called on youth to be catalysts for change. He urged them to contribute to nation-building not just on canvas but in real life.
4. CM Omar Reviews Weather Preparedness: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level meeting this week to review readiness ahead of IMD’s forecast of heavy rain and snow from October 5–7. He instructed departments to ensure public safety, protect crops and infrastructure, maintain essential services, and restore road, power, and water connectivity promptly. He appealed to citizens to remain cautious and follow government advisories.
5. CM Omar Stresses Equitable Development In Anantnag: After inaugurating multiple projects, CM Omar this week addressed a public gathering in Achabal, reiterating his government’s commitment to equitable development, clean drinking water, and improved public services across Jammu and Kashmir.
6. Jal Shakti Ministry Focuses On Household Tap Connections: Minister Javed Rana this week highlighted the department’s goal of achieving 100% Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), ensuring safe and reliable drinking water for every household in the Union Territory.
7. CM Omar Inaugurates Sports Infra In G’bal : CM Omar inaugurated three major sports projects at the Government College of Physical Education, including a prefabricated indoor badminton hall, a synthetic athletic track, and a synthetic football turf, collectively worth over ₹12 crore. The facilities aim to boost sports excellence and provide advanced training opportunities for aspiring athletes.
