Srinagar | : Police on Friday conducted an awareness-cum-quiz program at Netherfield Public School in Sopore, focusing on the new criminal laws that replace existing legal frameworks.
The initiative aimed to educate students about the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which supersede the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively. Students actively engaged in an interactive quiz designed to assess their knowledge of the new legal system. The program included awareness sessions led by police officers, who emphasized the rights and responsibilities of citizens, as well as the significant reforms introduced by the new laws. The overarching goal of the initiative was to empower youth through legal literacy, foster responsible citizenship, and enhance awareness of justice and accountability within the new legal framework. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to promote awareness, building trust with the younger generation, and cultivating a law-abiding and informed society.
