Ramban| : The District Administration Ramban, under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, Wednesday organised a series of activities across the district as part of the ongoing fortnight-long ‘Sewa Parv’ campaign. The day-long programmes disseminated awareness on health, sanitation, environmental conservation and citizen empowerment schemes.

The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing held an awareness camp at the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi Batote, sensitizing farmers, traders and other stakeholders about departmental and allied schemes. A sanitation drive in the mandi premises, with active participation of officials, farmers and traders, reinforced the importance of cleanliness and safe handling of produce.

At Government Middle School, Chamalwas, the Social Forestry Department (Block Banihal) joined teachers, students and PRIs in a plantation-cum-cleanliness drive, planting 12 Cupressus saplings to promote green and healthy surroundings.

A district-wide Digital Literacy and Cyber Security campaign was rolled out across all Common Service Centres (CSCs) to educate the rural people about safe digital practices, prevention of cyber frauds and secure online transactions.

Under the theme Eco-friendly and Zero Waste Celebration, Clean Green Utsav was organised simultaneously in Block Gool, Banihal, Ukhral, Gandhri, Khari, Gundi Dharam, Rajgarh, Ramban, Ramsoo and others   to promote sustainable festive practices and environmental conservation.

The Animal Husbandry Department held an awareness camp at Dhalwas, highlighting welfare schemes, animal health care, vaccination, breed improvement and livestock insurance.

Similarly, the Agriculture Department conducted an awareness programme at Zone Chambalwas on PM-Kisan, Daksh Kisan, Soil Health Management and Organic Farming.

The Government Degree College Banihal hosted a Quiz Competition on Gandhian Life and Philosophy, engaging the students in learning about Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals. The Municipal Committee Banihal also carried out a town-wide cleanliness drive to promote hygiene and proper waste management.

Health remained a major focus as a specialised health camp was held at NTPHC Neel under ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’, and three additional camps at AAM SC Paristan, AAM SC Darzipura and AAM SC Kanga, providing preventive and curative services to locals including screening for NCDs, ANC check-ups, anaemia screening, child vaccination, TB screening and Nikshay Mitra enrolment. A medical camp was also held at Block Ramban.

Complementing these efforts, the Sheep Husbandry Department conducted cleanliness drives at Banihal and Doligam, while Forest Block Neel, Forest Range Ramban organised a plantation drive with active participation of forest staff, wildlife personnel, Forest Protection Force, Panchayat representatives and local landowners.
