Jammu: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal Friday chaired a meeting of officers to review and finalise the arrangements for the upcoming Dussehra and Navratra festivals.
The ADC called for coordinated action from all departments including Health, Jal Shakti, JMC, Fire & Emergency, Jammu Municipal Corporation and others.
She directed the concerned departments to ensure that roads and tracks leading to prominent places of worship and congregation are illuminated adequately.
Special focus was sought on Kol Kandoli and Bawe Mata Mandir, where enhanced lighting along the access roads was ordered. Similarly, the grounds earmarked for Dussehra celebrations are to be suitably lit so that devotees and the general public do not face any inconvenience during evenings.
The Fire and Emergency Services Department was instructed to remain prepared with requisite manpower, equipment and quick-response teams in place to deal with any contingencies during the celebrations.
The Health Department was also directed to deploy mobile medical units and first-aid centres at strategic points, especially near temple premises and celebration grounds, to cater to any medical emergencies.
The Jal Shakti Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water at the celebration venues and important congregation sites.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation was directed to take up special sanitation drives in and around temple premises, congregation areas and procession routes. The ADC stressed that the JMC must ensure cleanliness, proper lifting of garbage and adequate deployment of sanitation staff throughout the festival days to maintain a hygienic environment for the devotees.
Representatives of temples and religious bodies attended the meeting and gave their suggestions. They were assured of full support from the district administration and were asked to extend cooperation in smooth implementation of all directions.
Concluding the meeting, ADC Ansuya Jamwal appealed to all stakeholders to ensure that the festivals are celebrated in an atmosphere of devotion and joy, while maintaining safety, sanitation and minimal disruption to normal life.
The meeting was attended by SDM Jammu South Manu Hansa, SP Headquarters Irfan Rashid, SP City Anubhuti, ACG Sania Haq Khan, Tehsildar Jammu Khas Paramdeep Singh besides other senior officers and officials.
