Jammu | :  To promote cleanliness and environmental awareness, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Wednesday organized a Plog Run under the banner of Swachhata Hi Seva and Seva Parv 2025.

The initiative was aimed at encouraging citizens to adopt hygienic practices and contribute collectively to building a garbage-free, clean, green, and healthy Jammu city.

The event commenced at 9:00 AM with a plog run that started from Government Sarwal Hospital and concluded at Tali Morh. The unique run was not just about fitness but combined physical activity with social responsibility, as participants picked up litter along the route, reinforcing the core message of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The run was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Jammu,  Rakesh Minhas, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students, health workers, and local residents. The event also witnessed the gracious presence of MLA Jammu East,  Yudhvir Sethi, MLA Jammu West,  Arvind Gupta, and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, who joined in to motivate the participants.

A large number of doctors and staff from Government Sarwal Hospital, students from different schools and colleges, and volunteers from local communities took part in the plog run. Students performed songs, slogans, and cultural presentations highlighting the importance of cleanliness and community participation in keeping the city pollution-free. Their enthusiastic chants of “Don’t litter the streets—Use dustbins only” and “Keep Jammu Clean and Green” inspired the public and onlookers along the route.

During the run, participants collected garbage in eco-friendly bags, setting a positive example for citizens and urging them to adopt cleanliness as a way of life. Local shopkeepers, residents, swachhta Champions, brand ambassadors and pedestrians joined the movement and  encouraged people to be more mindful about waste disposal and to actively support the city’s cleanliness mission.

Addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the plog run, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in creating public awareness and changing mindsets. He said, “Cleanliness cannot be achieved by government efforts alone, it requires the active cooperation of each and every citizen. Programs like Swachhata Hi Seva and Seva Parv need to be taken to every ward and colony of Jammu to instill a culture of cleanliness in society.”

Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner JMC, in his address, thanked the participants for their energetic involvement and highlighted that the younger generation will serve as a torchbearer for such campaigns. He said, “Our children and youth are the real ambassadors of cleanliness. Their energy and commitment will guide society towards adopting responsible civic practices. JMC is determined to spread awareness in every nook and corner of the city so that Jammu sets an example of being one of the cleanest cities in the country.”

Both MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi and MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta lauded the efforts of JMC and the citizens, calling for wider participation in such cleanliness drives. They underlined that every small step taken by an individual in keeping surroundings clean will ultimately contribute to a larger movement for a healthy and progressive Jammu.

The plog run concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony where participants vowed to carry forward the message of Swachh Bharat Mission in their neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. The event not only served as a reminder of the responsibility towards a cleaner environment but also became a celebration of collective action, unity, and civic pride.

With such enthusiastic participation and leadership support, the Jammu Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns, and public engagement activities, ensuring that Jammu moves steadily towards becoming a model clean and green city.
