MP G A Khatana Visits Anjuman-I-Islam, Lauds 150-Year Legacy

Mumbai: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana visited Anjuman-I-Islam, Maharashtra’s largest educational institution, to commemorate its 150 years of contributions to education and nation-building.
The visit coincided with the ongoing engagements of the Parliamentary Committee in Mumbai. Anjuman-I-Islam, established in 1874, has developed into a comprehensive educational network with 100 institutions, including primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges in engineering, pharmacy, and architecture. Currently, it serves over 120,000 students, supported by more than 3,500 teaching staff. Khatana recognized the institution as a significant “beacon of learning and service to society,” advocating for increased support to enhance its outreach. He commended the leadership of Padma Shri Dr. Zahir Kazi and Shri Mushtaq Antule for their exemplary contributions and expressed optimism about the potential addition of MBBS and Dental colleges to the institution’s offerings.
During his visit, Khatana highlighted the legacy of Anjuman-I-Islam by recalling its distinguished alumni, which include former Maharashtra Chief Minister Abdul Rahman Antulay, renowned actor Dilip Kumar, actor-academician Kader Khan, and celebrated cricketers Salim Durrani, Wasim Jaffer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The event also featured the presence of Mehmood Hakimi, Founder & National President of the Positive Change Foundation, and Faheem Ahmad Khan, National Vice President of the Foundation.
