Crackdown on Drugs, Safeguard Future Of Youth For Viksit Bharat By 2047: HM Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive crackdown on drug cartels during his address at the second National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of States and Union Territories.
In his address at the second National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of States and UTs Shah outlined strategies aimed at dismantling drug networks, improving extradition processes, and streamlining deportation mechanisms to effectively combat the drug crisis in India. Shah identified three distinct types of drug cartels operating within the country: those at entry points, distribution networks, and local retail chains. He called on ANTF heads to take decisive action against these networks, emphasizing that the fight against drugs must be a collective effort.
Shah highlighted the critical importance of protecting the youth from drug abuse as essential to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a fully developed India by 2047. He pointed out the proximity of global drug supply hubs as a significant challenge, stressing that the future of the nation depends on safeguarding its younger generation from the perils of drug addiction.
Additionally, Shah advocated for enhanced collaboration with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to facilitate the extradition of drug traffickers operating from abroad. He announced that the Home Ministry would soon issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to streamline deportation processes, emphasizing the need for a more liberal approach to ensure effective deportation of fugitives involved in drug trafficking. He urged ANTF presidents to engage with the CBI to establish a system that would aid in extradition efforts, which would also benefit the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
