Srinagar : Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, on Tuesday convened a security review meeting at PCR Kashmir to evaluate the current security landscape in the region. The meeting was attended by all Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), District Superintendents of Police (SSP), and other senior officials.
During the discussions, the DIGs and SSPs provided updates on the law and order situation in their respective districts. Birdi highlighted the importance of enhancing investigations and building stronger cases to improve conviction rates, particularly in narcotics and terrorism-related offenses. He called for the establishment of effective follow-up mechanisms to ensure successful prosecutions. Additionally, he directed officers to increase area domination efforts, conduct night patrols in sensitive locations, and maintain vigilant surveillance on anti-national elements (ANEs). The IGP also emphasized the necessity of enhancing market inspections to curb unlawful activities. In closing, Birdi reaffirmed the J&K Police’s dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region. He urged officers to uphold transparency, accountability, and ensure timely resolution of cases to protect citizens’ rights.
