Distt Kulgam braces up to observe Sewa Parv

Kulgam : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Wednesday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the observance of Sewa Parv, which will be celebrated across the district from September 17 to October 2, 2025.
It was informed that the Sewa Parv, envisioned as a people’s movement will witness active participation from PRIs, civil society, educational institutions, and community groups.
Meanwhile, departments like Rural Development and Municipal Committees will conduct cleanliness drives in schools, hospitals, markets, religious sites, and other public spaces. Forest Department will organize plantation drives.
School Education and Higher Education departments will launch book and stationery donation drives, undertake school beautification activities, and organize voluntary teaching sessions for underprivileged students.
Similarly, Social Welfare department will visit old-age homes and orphanages, arrange community meals for the needy, and distribute assistive devices such as wheelchairs and hearing aids.
Health and Social Welfare departments will organize health check-up camps in both urban and rural areas, coordinate blood donation drives with hospitals and NGOs, and conduct nutrition awareness programs under the Poshan Abhiyan.
Concerned departments will also conduct awareness programs on waste segregation and the elimination of single-use plastic.
Agriculture, Skill Development, IT departments, and other concerned authorities will conduct awareness sessions on government schemes like PM Kisan and Jan Dhan Yojana, along with workshops on organic farming, water conservation, sustainable practices, digital literacy, and employment guidance.
Culture wing and School Education department will organize wall painting campaigns, essay, slogan, and art competitions on the theme ‘Spirit of Sewa.’
Department of Information will provide wide publicity of the activities, including daily social media updates.
All other departments will actively participate by planning and implementing innovative and impactful activities in line with the objectives of Sewa Parv, reaching out to the public with their schemes and progra
