Terrorist hideout busted during searches
Srinagar : A two-day gunfight in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam district, South Kashmir, ended on Tuesday with the deaths of two soldiers and two terrorists.
As already reported the encounter began on Monday morning when a joint operation involving the Police, Army’s 9 RR, elite Para Special Forces, and CRPF was initiated based on intelligence regarding the presence of 2-3 terrorists. The operation escalated when the terrorists opened fire, leading to a retaliatory response from the security forces. During the initial exchange, one terrorist was killed, but three Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were injured. Tragically, two of the injured soldiers, including the JCO, later succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of another officer remains stable. The operation continued, resulting in the death of a second terrorist, bringing the total to two.
Officials said that the fallen soldiers were identified as Subedar Prabhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu. The Indian Army expressed deep condolences and honored their sacrifice, emphasizing their courage and dedication. Additionally, security forces discovered a hideout used by the terrorists, recovering an INSAS rifle and other incriminating materials. One of the deceased terrorists was identified as a Pakistani national known as Rehman Bhai, while the other, Aamir Bashir from Shopian, had joined terrorist ranks two years prior. Both were affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, and a case has been registered under relevant legal sections.
