Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of Police Station Awantipora at a checkpoint arrested a drug peddler identified as Shakeel Ahmad Lone S/o Manzoor Ahmad Lone R/o Lethpora and during search recovered 2.9 grams of heroin-like substance from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a case under FIR Number 188/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement police said that actions against drug peddlers will remain continue in operation as part of all the measures taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
