Awantipora : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has launched a week-long exhibition titled “Naqsh-i-Dawam: An Exhibition on Architectural Epigraphy in Early Modern Kashmir” at the Wastoorwan Gallery of Art.
The event was inaugurated by Kuldeep K. Siddha, the Director of the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, alongside notable university officials including Prof A. H. Moon, Prof Abdul Wahid Makhdoomi, and Mr. Qazi Qamar Iqbal Qari. The exhibition attracted significant participation from the university community, highlighting a growing interest in Kashmir’s architectural heritage. It aims to present the rich epigraphic traditions of early modern Kashmir through a curated collection of stone and architectural inscriptions, archival photographs, and interpretive materials. This initiative emphasizes the role of epigraphy as both a textual record and an artistic expression integral to the region’s architectural history. Coordinated by Mr. Umar Farooq, the exhibition will be open to visitors throughout the week at the Wastoorwan Gallery of Art, IUST, Kashmir.
