Budgam | :  A meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) on Mission YUVA was Friday held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex.

The meeting was convened to evaluate and approve venture project applications submitted through Small Business Development Units (SBDUs). During the proceedings, 150 fresh cases, duly verified by SBDUs, were placed before the committee for consideration and all were approved for financial assistance and handholding support under Mission YUVA. Each application underwent detailed scrutiny to assess eligibility, business viability, and socio-economic background of the applicants.

As per official data, 1939 applications have been submitted in Budgam under Mission YUVA. Out of these, 782 applications have been verified by SBDUs, while 508 applications stand approved by DLIC. Furthermore, 140 applications have been sanctioned by banks, and 55 applications have already been disbursed.

Speaking on the occasion, DC emphasised that Mission YUVA is not just a financial assistance program but a holistic youth empowerment initiative aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. He said the district administration is committed to nurturing young entrepreneurs, encouraging innovation, and ensuring that the youth of Budgam contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

DC directed all line departments, banks, and implementing agencies to work in close coordination and ensure time-bound sanctioning, disbursement, and continuous mentoring of beneficiaries. He stressed that every approved project should be monitored to ensure its sustainability and long-term impact.

He also instructed the officers to complete the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) without delay so that applications move seamlessly through the approval chain. “No application should remain pending at the SBDU level for more than 15 days. We must maintain efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the entire process,” Dr. Bilal directed.

DC further said that the district administration’s focus is on uplifting underprivileged and marginalized youth by equipping them with the right support system. He underscored that youth-led entrepreneurship is a vital driver of socio-economic growth and assured that the district administration will extend all possible help to budding entrepreneurs.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Budgam, General Manager DIC, Deputy Director Employment, District Social Welfare Officer, DDM NABARD, Lead District Manager, District Nodal Officer, and representatives from JKEDI, besides other concerned officers.
