Srinagar | : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers/smugglers in separate actions in Kupwara and recovered significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a police party during at a checkpoint established at Halpal road near Masjid Murshideen, intercepted two suspects identified as Umair Ibn Fayaz S/o Fayaz Ahmad Mir R/o Regipora and Kashif Ul Islam S/o Mohd Sultan Bhat R/o Batergam who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully and during checking, heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.
Stating that in another similar action a police party from Police Station Lalpora during naka checking at Rangward, intercepted two suspects identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rehman Bhat R/o Krusan and Aabid Shafi Mir S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Dharamwari Police in its statement further said that during checking, a considerable quantity of charas-like substance was recovered from their possession, adding therein that all the accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations Police in
the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to carry on the drive against the menace of drugs .
