CUK celebrates 79th Independence Day with fervour, VC hoists tricolour

Ganderbal | : The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Thursday celebrated the 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath, who hoisted the National Flag at the Tulmulla Campus.

The event was attended by various university officials, faculty, students, and staff, with a march past performed by the security wing and students from the Department of Physical Education. In his address, Prof. A Ravinder Nath emphasized the importance of proactive contributions from students, faculty, and staff towards building a self-reliant and progressive India. He encouraged students to engage actively in knowledge creation and community activities, highlighting the role of academics in nurturing socially responsible leaders and generating research that can bolster the nation’s economy. He pointed out the transformative potential of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, and urged students to explore opportunities beyond the service sector, focusing on manufacturing and agriculture to enhance employment prospects. Prof. A Ravinder Nath called for a stronger emphasis on research, national mission mandates, and institutional branding, expressing his aspiration for CUK to gain recognition on the National Portal for academic excellence. He acknowledged the university’s developmental stage and stressed the need to turn challenges into opportunities through innovative thinking and active student involvement. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable campus, aligning with the ideals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat, and urged all stakeholders to take ownership of the institution’s growth and reputation. Additionally, he encouraged students to utilize government initiatives and programs, such as the Aspiring Leadership Program from Harvard Business School, aiming for representation from CUK in the program. Prof. A Ravinder Nath expressed his condolences regarding the recent cloudburst disaster in Chisoti village, which resulted in significant loss of life and property. The program was conducted by Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Bhat from the Department of Law, who also proposed the vote of thanks. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at the Green Campus and Nuner Campus, led by respective deans, with participation from faculty, staff, and students.
