Srinagar | : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar celebrated the 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility towards nation-building.
The ceremony was presided over by In-Charge Director Prof. (HAG) Roohi Naaz, who hoisted the national flag and emphasized the institute’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and service to the country. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Registrar, Deans, faculty members, and students, showcasing a united front in honoring the nation. The celebrations featured multiple contingents, including the Security Wing and NCC cadets, with Prof. Roohi Naaz inspecting the parade. She delivered a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s leaders and freedom fighters, highlighting the importance of freedom as both a legacy and a responsibility. She urged the campus community to focus on sustainability, equity, and innovation, encouraging students and staff to uphold the constitutional ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rahman reiterated the mission of NIT Srinagar to produce not only skilled engineers but also responsible and empathetic citizens. He acknowledged the dedication of faculty and staff towards academic excellence and institutional growth. The event concluded with patriotic performances, including a song by a student and a group performance by NCC cadets, fostering a spirit of unity and patriotism. Following the institute’s celebrations, faculty, staff, and students participated in the official Independence Day events at Bakshi Stadium, where the Chief Minister hoisted the national flag.
