R&R Commissioner holds grievances redressal camp at TRT Migrant Camp Nagrota

Jammu | :  A public grievance redressal camp was held under the chairmanship of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K Dr. Arvind Karwani at TRT Migrant Camp Nagrota Jammu to review the ongoing development works in the migrant camps at Jammu besides taking stock of the various day to day issues being faced by the inmates of the migrant camp.

Deputy Commissioner (Relief), Vijay Kumar Sharma, CAO (Relief), Shiwani Bhan, Assistant Commissioner (Relief) Sanjeev Kumar and senior officers from various line departments viz. Jal Shakti Department, Public Works Department, Power Development Department, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Youth Services & Sports Department, Department of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Jammu & Kashmir e-Governance Agency, Health Department, Education Department, Urban Environmental Engineering Department, Revenue Department, J&K Bank officer , Tehsildars/ Camp Commandants of Relief Organization attended the camp.

Dr. Karwani patiently listened to the grievances of the public, which mainly included making medical dispensary functional, repair/renovation of flats, maintenance of parks, development of playground, construction of community hall, regular water and power supply.

He emphasised upon all the officers to ensure due adherence to the recent directions issued by the General Administration Department, wherein responsibilities of Transit Migrant Camps at Jammu and Kashmir have been assigned to various Government Departments.

Dr Karwani instructed the site engineers to ensure close supervision on ground to ensure the quality of works being executed and time bound completion, as per the stipulated deadlines.

The Deputy Commissioner Relief and Assistant Commissioners Relief were asked to ensure weekly visits in the camps assigned to them as per the roster of duty  and take stock of all development works/ concerns of migrants, including grievances related to immovable properties in Kashmir Valley. They were asked to maintain close coordination with the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the concerned districts, appointed as Nodal Officers for the purpose in terms of a Government Order in this regard recently.

The Health Department was asked to deploy doctors on rotation to the migrant camp and make the dispensary fully functional with an ambulance. The PWD(R&B) was asked to take steps for urgent repairs/renovation of HSS Jagti and HSS Nagrota.

The Department of Youth Services & Sports was directed to develop a proposal for the maintenance of open spaces/ playground at Migrant Camp Nagrota.

The Floriculture, Gardens & Parks Department was asked to expedite the proposal for development of open spaces and undertake maintenance of existing parks. The officers of the Jal Shakti Department were asked to do the quality testing of water samples.

Dr Karwani emphasised on identification of potential beneficiaries of various social sector schemes. He appealed to youth to avail benefit of various self employment schemes and asked the departments to give wide awareness about the schemes in the migrant camps and arrange more outreach programmes.
