DLSA Udhampur celebrates Int’l Youth Day with kabaddi tournament

Udhampur |:   District Legal Services Authority Udhampur organised a celebration of International Youth Day 2025 at Indoor Hall, Subash Stadium, Udhampur.

The programme was graced by Virinder Singh Bhou, Principal District and Sessions Judge/Chairman DLSA Udhampur, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a bouquet presentation to the Chief Guest by Dr Smriti Sharma, Secretary DLSA Udhampur. The lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest marked the commencement of the event.

Advocate Sanjeet Kumar, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Udhampur, extended a welcome address to the Chief Guest, guests of honour and participants. The guests of honour included Dr Smriti Sharma, Secretary DLSA Udhampur; Romesh Chander, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur; Suraj Bhan, Manager Sports Council Udhampur; Prof Shashi Kumar Sharma from Government Degree College/PG College Udhampur; and Prof Vikas Sharma from Basker Degree College Udhampur.

The kabaddi teams from these two colleges added to the excitement of the programme. The Chief Guest delivered a lecture on the significance of International Youth Day, emphasising the importance of youth empowerment and the role of young individuals in shaping society’s future.

The highlight of the programme was the kabaddi match between the teams from Government Degree College/PG College Udhampur and Basker Degree College Udhampur. The match was filled with energy and sportsmanship, showcasing the talent and teamwork of the young athletes. The Chief Guest declared the results and announced the winning team.

Suraj Bhan and Romesh Chander delivered speeches highlighting the importance of youth development programmes and the need for collaborative efforts to empower the youth.

The event concluded with the distribution of mementos, medals and certificates to the winning team, participants and college professors. The Chief Guest was honoured with a sapling.

Dr Smriti Sharma proposed a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants and organisers for their contributions to the event’s success.
