Jammu : The Jammu and Kashmir administration and local community are mourning the tragic loss of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramnagar, Rajinder Singh Rana, and his 10-year-old son, Arav, who died in a landslide on August 1 in the Dharmari area of Reasi district. The incident occurred when a boulder struck their vehicle while they were traveling from Dharmari to their native village, Pattian. The cremation took place in Pattian, attended by numerous political and social leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and former BJP President Ravinder Raina, who expressed their condolences. The landslide, caused by heavy rains, resulted in the immediate deaths of Rajinder Singh and his son, while his wife, daughter, and a relative sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. The administration has committed to providing the best possible care for the injured and support for the bereaved family. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah both expressed profound grief over the incident, with Abdullah describing it as an irreparable loss and assuring assistance for the injured. Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo mourned Rajinder Singh’s passing, highlighting his dedication and integrity as an officer. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and the Congress Party also conveyed their condolences and called for the best treatment for the injured family members. The officers of the 2011 JKAS batch paid tribute to their colleague, emphasizing the void his loss has created in the administrative community. An investigation into the landslide has been initiated, as the area is known to be susceptible to such incidents during the monsoon season.
