DC Rajouri reviews anti-drug measures at NCORD Committee Meeting

Rajouri | :  In a determined effort to intensify the fight against drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma alongside Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Sikarwar Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee.

The meeting was convened to comprehensively review and strengthen the district’s anti-drug initiatives and evaluate the performance of departments involved in enforcement, awareness, rehabilitation, and monitoring. Emphasis was laid on inter-departmental coordination, youth engagement, and strict compliance with regulatory frameworks.

The DC directed all line departments to ensure active youth participation in awareness and outreach activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He stressed that the anti-drug events must be conducted strictly in accordance with the scheduled calendar and warned of disciplinary action in cases of laxity or deviation.

Taking serious note of discrepancies in data management, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officers to ensure timely and accurate uploading of reports and updates on the Nasha Mukt Bharat portal. He stated that any negligence in this regard would be viewed seriously and necessary action would be initiated against the erring officials.

To amplify monitoring of pharmaceutical shops, the DC instructed drug control authorities to enforce computerized billing systems across all pharmacies operating in the district. The meeting also reviewed the current trends in drug abuse, recent seizures, status of de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, and the progress of awareness campaigns.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma underscored the crucial importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, emphasizing the need for a united front to transform Rajouri into a drug-free district. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to further intensify the anti-drug drives.

SSP Gaurav Sikarwar laid strong emphasis on the systematic identification of drug victims and suppliers, along with curbing the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs. He urged all enforcement and health agencies to adopt a proactive approach in mapping vulnerable individuals, tracking supply chains, and implementing stringent checks to prevent the diversion of prescription medicines for illicit use. He called for coordinated action, intelligence sharing, and timely interventions to dismantle the drug network at its roots.

The meeting was attended by the ADC Rajouri, Chander Prakash; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; ACR Mohd Jhangir Khan; ACD, Auqil Nuvaid; ACP, Sheraz Chowhan besides ADC Kalakote, Mohammad Tanvir; ADC Koteranka, Dil Mir; ADC Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa; ADC Sunderbani, Ramkesh Sharma and SDM Thanamandi, Abid Hussain Shah attended the meeting through virtual mode.
