Srinagar | : The Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS) at the University of Kashmir organized a national seminar focused on the theme ‘Ethics and Self-Purification: Insights from Sufi and Indian Philosophers.’
The event brought together faculty members, scholars, and students to explore the philosophical and spiritual teachings inherent in Sufi and Indian traditions. Prof. Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Dean of Research at KU and the chief guest, emphasized the importance of such discussions in today’s context, linking them to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritizes ethics, values, and holistic education to cultivate responsible and reflective citizens. Prof. Manzoor A. Bhat, a key resource person, provided insights into the common ethical frameworks present in classical Sufi and Indian philosophical thought. Additionally, Prof. Tareak A. Rather, In-Charge Director at CCAS, highlighted the necessity of revisiting indigenous philosophical traditions to foster moral awareness and personal growth. The seminar featured technical sessions where participants engaged in discussions on various topics related to ethics, spirituality, self-discipline, and moral philosophy, drawing from both classical and contemporary perspectives. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mohmad Ilham, a faculty member at CCAS.
