Jammu | :  A batch of 105 students from Government SPMR College of Commerce, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, and GCW Gandhi Nagar successfully completed their summer internship at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Bari Brahmana campus on Saturday.

The internship was organized in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates a 60-hour internship for undergraduate students as part of their academic curriculum. The program was designed to nurture entrepreneurial thinking, research aptitude and teamwork among students.

During the 10-day internship, students were introduced to the core functions and program verticals of JKEDI. They gained valuable insights into entrepreneurship development, startup ecosystem dynamics and self-employment opportunities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The structured program included interactive lectures, hands-on assignments, exposure visits and knowledge-sharing sessions conducted by JKEDI’s experienced faculty and guest speakers from the startup domain.

The internship concluded with a valedictory ceremony graced by Chand Kishore Sharma, Joint Director JKEDI, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he emphasized the need to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in the youth and highlighted JKEDI’s role in shaping the startup landscape of the UT.

The interns appreciated the practical and immersive nature of the program, especially the sessions on government schemes, business model development and startup financing.

The internship was conducted by a team of expert faculty members under the overall supervision of the Director, JKEDI.

JKEDI routinely conducts such internship programs for students across the Union Territory as part of its broader mandate to promote entrepreneurship and create awareness about self-employment as a viable and rewarding career choice. These initiatives aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application in the field of entrepreneurship.
