Srinagar | : Police on Friday said that it has booked three habitual drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act) for their persistent involvement in narcotics trade.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police identified the accused as Abdul Hamid Lone S/o Mohammad Ramzan Lone R/o Tujjar Sharief lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail, Javid Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Subhan Wani R/o Tujjar Sharief lodged at Central Jail Amphala, Jammu and Firdous Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Sultan Dar R/o Reban Sopore lodged at District Jail Udhampur.
Stating that despite repeated FIRs and preventive actions in the past, the said unlawfuls continued their involvement in the narcotics network, posing a serious threat to public safety and youth welfare Police in its statement further said that after detailed surveillance and dossier preparation, competent authorities issued detention orders under PIT NDPS Act. Police in is statement furthermore said in Sopore also it has identified 20 more repeat offenders involved in drug peddling who are likely to face similar action under PIT NDPS in the coming days.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its firm resolve to dismantle the entire narcotics ecosystem and appealed people to remain vigilant and cooperate by reporting any suspicious drug-related activity.
