Bandipora: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Sajjad Hussain Wednesday inaugurated a football tournament here at S K Sports Stadium.
The total of 12 teams of the district participated in the tournament.
The DDC declared the tournament open and interacted with the players.
The inaugural match was played between Sports Club Bandipora and Laherwalpora.
The tournament was organised by BSF Sector Headquarter Bandipora in collaboration with Football Association Bandipora under Civic Action Programme.
On the occasion, it was revealed that the main objective of conducting the tournament is to highlight the hidden talent of the youth of the district and to give recognition to them at national and international level.
The tournament is being conducted strictly under rules and regulations of FIFA.
The DDC was informed the final match would be played between the winning teams of Bandipora district and Kupwara district. The winners will be given a handsome cash reward, besides the teams will be taken to Delhi under Bharat Darshan programme to visit historical places.
It was given out that under Civic Action Programme, one computer centre and two tailoring centres have been established in the district during the current financial year, besides holding four medical camps.
Earlier the sports kits were distributed among the players.
SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, Senior Officers of BSF Sector, Bandipora, president Football Association Bandipora and other concerned officers attended the function, besides a large number of players.
