DC directs officers to perform duties with due diligence, ensuring better services to people in a time bound manner

Srinagar | :  Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, Thursday chaired a meeting of senior Revenue Officers here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office to assess the tehsil-wise progress on key revenue matters.

The meeting focused on improving the functioning of the district’s Revenue department, provision of revenue services to citizens in a time bound manner besides ensuring timely disposal of litigation cases and efforts to strengthen the infrastructure of the Revenue department to improve service delivery. He also reviewed the progress in implementation of PMAY-Urban (2.0) in the district.

At the outset, DC emphasized timely resolution of pending court cases, upgrading departmental infrastructure to enhance efficiency and service delivery at the grassroots level. He stressed speedy verification of cases under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 to ensure housing for all eligible beneficiaries.

While reviewing the Tehsil wise appraisal of the progress made with regard to clearance of pending litigation cases before High Court of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh, DC emphasized timely filing of factual reports/ replies by respective Tehsildars ensuring fast track disposal of the cases.

DC also emphasized improved coordination between Tehsil offices and the ARA for timely legal compliance.

On the occasion, DC also took a detailed review of the ongoing efforts undertaken to develop and strengthen the infrastructure of Revenue offices in the district. He was given tehsil wise appraisal about the land identified at the suitable locations for construction of Revenue offices at SDM and tehsil levels to facilitate general public and revenue officials as well.

DC directed the ACR, SDMs and Tehsildars to visit the proposed sites to expedite construction processes of the Revenue office complexes. He asked them to monitor the progress periodically to ensure quality & timely completion of the works, keeping in view the limited working season.

DC added that the purpose of upgrading infrastructure for Revenue offices is also aimed to enhance overall performance of the Revenue department in the district and provide a better office atmosphere for officials working there.

During the meeting, DC also reviewed the progress on verification of cases being done by Revenue officers under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 in the district.

He asked the officers to ensure expeditious verification of the cases by strictly adhering to the laid guidelines. He emphasized the need for maintaining transparency and accuracy in beneficiary selection under the scheme so that benefit reaches the deserving population.

DC also directed the Revenue officers to perform duties with due diligence and added zeal ensuring better services to the people in a time bound manner. He called upon them to make all out efforts to maintain precise and up-to-date land records in respective jurisdictions to ensure efficient land administration for its efficient utilization for Government purposes.

He also asked the Revenue officers to actively monitor the process of revenue related activities in respective jurisdictions and activate their field staff to keep proper check and vigil on any kind of encroachments on state land and Kahchari land across the district. He said that the working approach of the Revenue officials must lead in making a positive contribution to the society.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Umar Gulzar; SDM East, Zubair Ahmad; SDM West, Irfan Bahadur, all Tehsildars and Assistant Revenue Attorney (ARA) with DC and other concerned.
