Srinagar | : An awareness programme on the rising threat of drug abuse was Thursday held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, under the banner of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
The event was organized by the Cultural Unit Srinagar of the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) in collaboration with the school authorities.
A powerful and thought-provoking theme-based short play on drug de-addiction was presented by a local artist group, effectively portraying the consequences of substance abuse.
The performance was appreciated by both students and faculty for its strong social message.
Huma Meer, Principal of the institution, and Muzaffar, Senior Lecturer, addressed the students and stressed the importance of awareness and responsibility in curbing the drug menace.
Burhan Hussain, Cultural Officer, was present on the occasion and highlighted the critical role of such initiatives in reaching young minds. He reiterated his firm commitment to organizing regular awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
He emphasized that cultural tools like plays and performances are effective mediums to drive change.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to stand united against drug abuse and spread the message of awareness within their communities.
