Plantation drive conducted at PM   KV Jammu Cantt under Clean Jammu, Green Jammu Campaign

Jammu | :  As part of the ongoing Clean Jammu Green Jammu campaign, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division on Saturday organised a grand plantation drive here at PM   Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Jammu Cantt.

Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Devansh Yadav-the Chief Guest- inaugurated the drive by planting a sapling in the presence of the school Principal Sunil Kumar Yadav. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides and officials from JMC and Urban Forestry.

As many as 1000 saplings were planted by the participants, making a significant contribution towards greening the environment.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Devansh Yadav encouraged the students and citizens from all walks of life to actively participate in such plantation drives to protect and preserve the environment. He highlighted the importance of balancing academics with sports, environmental initiatives, and inculcating discipline and good manners as key values in life. As a unique initiative a special QR code indicating the name of the plant parent, scientific name of the plant and other allied information was allotted to each student as each plant was adopted by a student for future care.

The School Principal expressed gratitude to the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Urban Forestry Division for including Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Jammu Cantt in this meaningful initiative. He presented mementos to the guests as a token of appreciation.

The event was also attended by Lt. Col. H.R. Ohja, Col. M.S. Tomar, Vice Principal Amit Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Ashwani Kumar Mittal, IEC Incharge JMC Dr. Divya Sharma, AFO JMC and Dr. Rabia Khan along with other officials and dignitaries.

The plantation drive concluded with a renewed pledge to continue efforts in creating a cleaner and greener Jammu.
