Shopian: An awareness program on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) was Thursday conducted at Govt. Higher Secondary School Zainapora (Imamsahib Zone) by the District AYUSH office Shopian.
The camp aimed at sensitizing female teaching staff about PCOS – its causes, symptoms, prevention, and its management.
The session, organized under the supervision of District Nodal Officer Ayush Shopian, Dr Javaid Ahmad Wani was led by Dr. Saima Mohiuddin, Medical Officer AYUSH, who delivered an informative and engaging lecture on the condition. She emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, lifestyle modifications, and regular health check-ups.
The session covered various aspects of PCOS, including hormonal imbalance, menstrual irregularities, and its long-term health implications.
Afterwards, Dr. Gh. Nabi Wani, Medical Officer AYUSH, delivered an insightful lecture focusing on the importance of diet and lifestyle modification in managing PCOS. He elaborated on how dietary choices, such as reducing processed foods, incorporating fiber-rich meals, and maintaining regular eating habits, can significantly help in controlling symptoms and preventing long-term complications. He also highlighted the role of physical activity and stress management.
The program witnessed active participation from the female teachers of the zone, who appreciated the initiative and found the session both enlightening and necessary. An interactive Q&A session followed the lecture, where several concerns were addressed by the expert.
