2.34 lakh pilgrims pay obeisance at holy cave shrine till Tuesday
Srinagar: The annual Amarnath Yatra is progressing smoothly despite overcast weather conditions in Kashmir, with thousands of devotees participating in the pilgrimage to the holy cave.
Official figures reveal that on July 15, a total of 13,490 pilgrims performed darshan, including 9,096 males, 3,546 females, 199 children, 67 sadhus, and 14 sadhvis, along with 568 security personnel who also availed darshan. The cumulative number of yatris who have visited the shrine this year has reached 234,001. Fresh batches of pilgrims continue to depart from the Jammu base camp, with 6,388 yatris leaving in the 14th batch on Tuesday. This group included 2,501 pilgrims traveling via the Baltal axis and 3,887 via the Pahalgam route. The convoy consisted of 248 vehicles, including 129 buses, 38 medium motor vehicles, 73 light motor vehicles, and 8 two-wheelers. Among the departing pilgrims were 4,886 males, 1,300 females, 15 children, 158 sadhus, and 21 sadhvis. Authorities have confirmed that, despite intermittent rain and cloudy conditions, the yatra is proceeding peacefully. All necessary arrangements, including medical aid, escort security, and traffic regulation, are in place to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims.
