Srinagar | : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested seven drug peddlers across Kashmir valley in separate actions, including a lady drug peddler and also recovered significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that In Baramulla, a police checkpoint intercepted a Baleno vehicle, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Faizan Bukhari and a female accomplice, with significant quantities of Charas-like substances and Tapentadol HCL recovered. Additionally, a truck was stopped at NHW Tapper, resulting in the arrest of driver Mohammad Ashraf Kumar and the seizure of 250 grams of poppy straw-like substance. In Budgam, a police raid at the “Royal Star” bakery shop, based on specific intelligence, led to the recovery of four sticks of Charas-like substance (124 grams) and the arrest of shop owners Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh. Furthermore, in Awantipora, two drug consumers, Faisal Manzoor Reshi and Mudakir Hussain, were apprehended during patrols. They confessed to regular drug use and were sent to a rehabilitation center, where drug tests confirmed their substance use. The police have registered cases under relevant sections and are conducting further investigations. They urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities or crimes to local authorities or by calling emergency services.
