Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) has formally requested permission from the District Magistrate of Srinagar to visit the martyrs’ graveyard on July 13, 2025, to pay floral tributes in observance of Martyrs’ Day.
In a letter, NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar outlined that party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, along with senior party officials, plans to visit Mazar-e-Shuhada at 8:00 AM and has requested confirmation of the timing to avoid any confusion. The NC emphasized its long-standing tradition of commemorating Martyrs’ Day, which honors the sacrifices made in 1931. However, the party expressed concern over being denied the opportunity to observe this significant day since 2019. They reiterated the importance of this event in the collective memory and political consciousness of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The NC hopes that their request for a peaceful assembly to pay respects will be honored this year, allowing them to uphold their traditions and sentiments associated with Martyrs’ Day.
