Veeri reviews progress on Rs 45.54 cr land records modernization prog

Jammu: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Monday stressed upon the authorities of Land Records Management Agency (LRMA) to speed up th process of Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP) for timely completion of this ambitious project.

The Minister said this while chairing a meeting with the Revenue officers convened to review the progress on digitization process of land records in the State.

Commissioner/Secretary Revenue Shahid Anayatullah, Financial Commissioner Revenue Lokesh Jha, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, M. K. Bhandari, District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Kumar Rajiv Ranjan, Regional Director, Survey of Land Records, Kashmir S. A. Mir, Regional Director, Survey of Land Records, Jammu, Rifat Kohli, senior officers of M/S RAMTech Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd and other officers of Revenue and JKLRMA were present in the meeting.

The meeting was informed that phase-I of Rs 45.54 crore Digital India Land Records Modernization Program was initiated in November 2015 in the State and JKLRMA has taken up Jammu and Srinagar districts for all activities including scanning of revenue documents, maps and digitization of cadastral maps, establishment of ground control points and development of web-based enterprise geo-information system.

It was given out in the meeting that 10 more districts including Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Ramban, Doda, Baramulla, Anantnag, Bandipora, Leh and Kargil will be taken up under the program in the phase-II starting from March, 2018 to March, 2020, while as remaining 10 districts of the State including Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Shopian, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Kupwara would be taken up in phase-III starting from April, 2020 to March, 2022.

The Minister said digitization of land records would bring much needed transparency in the land mapping at individual and institutional level.

Veeri directed the concerned to ensure that the work on digitization of land records taken up in two Tehsils, one each in Jammu and Srinagar districts, should be finalized by March, 2018.

He directed them to speed up the process by employing additional manpower on the job so that these two tehsils are projected as model tehsils.

The Minister asked officers to furnish exact details of land retrieved so far, so that the necessary funds are arranged besides directing officers to ensure fencing of retrieved revenue land. He said the retrieved land can be utilized for creating infrastructure of public importance.

The Minister said the two vital Revenue Institutes in Srinagar and Jammu should be revamped on modern lines for which the necessary funds should be earmarked in the next year’s capex budget

The Minister stressed upon them to coordinate different departments for realization of development goals of the government.
