SSP Traffic urges commuters to follow diversion plan
Srinagar : In anticipation of the 8th Muharram procession in the city of Srinagar, special traffic measures have been implemented, particularly along the route from Guru Bazar to Dalgate, as stated by officials on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic City Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, said that the department has already released a comprehensive traffic advisory for Muharram processions throughout the city. “The ongoing processions in areas such as Rainawari, Saida Kadal, and others are proceeding smoothly according to the plan,” he remarked. He further noted that no vehicular traffic is permitted in areas designated for the procession, in accordance with the previous advisory. “For the 8th Muharram procession from Guru Bazar to Dalgate, MA Road will be entirely impacted. A specific advisory for that day will be issued, and we encourage commuters to avoid this route and plan accordingly,” SSP Ajaz stated. He mentioned that traffic from Radio Kashmir and Abdullah Bridge will be redirected through Residency Road, subsequently routed via Hari Singh High Street towards Jehangir Chowk. “Vehicles from Downtown Srinagar will be rerouted via Habba Kadal. These alterations will be enforced on the day of the procession,” he added. The SSP also emphasized that sufficient parking arrangements will be established at Gindun (Joggers) Park Rajbagh, SP College, and nearby areas. In the meantime, the SSP of traffic has urged citizens to adhere strictly to the guidelines to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent any inconvenience.
