City Municipal Commr Jammu leads Int’l Yoga Day celebrations with cultural message, sustainability drive

Jammu: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0 J&K Urban Dr. Devansh Yadav Saturday presided over the International Yoga Day celebrations at Bhartiya Yog Sansthan as the Chief Guest.
The event witnessed a large and enthusiastic turnout, symbolizing the city’s strong commitment to health, wellness and collective civic responsibility.
A standout moment of the day was a compelling Nukkad Natak (street play) themed “Naa Thapad Se Naa Gaali Se, Hum Samjhayenge Taali Se” (Not by Slapping or Scolding, but by Applauding, We Will Convince), presented by artists from Kalakar Manch.
Organized by the Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Department of Art, Culture and Languages, the performance powerfully conveyed the impact of positive reinforcement in bringing about social change—echoing the ethos of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The program was effectively coordinated by Health Officer JMC Dr. Vinod Sharma and VAS Dr. Priyanka Malhotra, whose efforts ensured meaningful engagement of the public and the smooth execution of the event.
In addition to the cultural program, the “Plastic Lao, Thela Lejao” initiative was held at the venue.
The Citizens were encouraged to exchange plastic waste for eco-friendly cloth bags, with over 450 bags distributed during the drive. The initiative, supervised by Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, aimed at promoting sustainable habits and reducing plastic usage among the community.
Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM partnered as the official radio broadcaster for the event, amplifying the message of yoga, sustainability and community empowerment across the city.
In his address, Dr. Devansh Yadav praised the collaborative efforts of organizers, performers, and citizens. He urged everyone to internalize the values of cleanliness, health and social harmony in their daily lives and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting such inclusive, impactful initiatives that shape a cleaner, greener and healthier Jammu.

Int’l Yoga Day celebrated at Directorate of Health Services Jammu
Jammu: The Directorate of Health Services Jammu celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga Saturday with great fervour and enthusiasm aligning with this year’s theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health “.
A synchronised relaxing and soothing yoga demonstration for mental wellbeing was led by volunteers Ishan Bhat, Umang Koul and Shubham Singh from ISHA Foundation (Miracle of Mind Sadhguru).
The event featured the “Miracle of Mind” program—a powerful initiative designed by Sadhguru to support mental well-being through a simple, guided 7-minute meditation. Just seven minutes a day can be a transformative step towards a more joyful and stress-free life”.
The Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar along with Deputy Director Schemes Dr. Poonam Sethi, Deputy Director Dentistry Dr. Sanjay Sharma and all Officers and Officials of the Directorate performed the Yoga Asanas. The session aimed to equip participants with practical tools to manage stress and enhance emotional balance.
In his address, the Director Health Services Jammu emphasized on the benefits of practicing yoga and impressed upon all to make it a daily routine to boost physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
The day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in all Districts of Jammu Division with active participation of CMOs/MS/BMOs of respective Districts/Blocks.

Int’l Yoga Day celebrated at High Court complex, Janipur
Jammu : The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated Saturday at the High Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu under the patronage of Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Arun Palli, with immense enthusiasm and fervor.
The event was held in presence of Justice Rahul Bharti and Justice Sanjay Parihar, Judges, High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
Organized under the supervision of Joint Registrar Judicial (Protocol), Jammu, Meyank Gupta, the celebration was attended by Khem Raj Sharma, Registrar Rules, Jeewan Kumar Sharma, Secretary, High Court Legal Services Academy, officers and staff of High Court Wing Jammu.
The event was held in collaboration with the Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and their experienced instructors who led the session by demonstrating various aasnas and pranaya
Justice Rahul Bharti expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the global recognition of Yoga and for creating an opportunity for everyone to actively contribute to this meaningful initiative. He said that this year’s Yoga Day theme, ‘One Earth, One Health,’ conveys a powerful message about addressing the pressing challenges being faced by the world Saturday.
The Joint Registrar Judicial (Protocol), on behalf of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jammu, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan for their efforts in successfully organizing the event.

DHSJ inspects health facilities in Block Sohanjana
Jammu: Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar visited AAM PHC Bhor Camp and NTPHC Lower Gadi Garh Block Sohanjana Saturday and took stock of the healthcare services being provided to the patients in these facilities.
The DHSJ took a round of the hospital and interacted with Doctors and paramedical staff. He impressed upon all to work with zeal and dedication and assured to meet all the necessary requirements for improving patient care and effective functioning of the Health Facility. The DHS was accompanied by BMO Sohanjana Dr.Vijay Sharma.
