Srinagar : Crime Branch Kashmir (now called EOW) on Thursday organized a focused awareness programme on Cyber Frauds, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology at Crime Headquarters, J&K, Srinagar.
The event was conducted under the supervision of IGP Crime Branch J&K. The primary objective of the programme was to strengthen the investigative capabilities and technical proficiency of officers engaged in handling cybercrime investigations. The programme was moderated by SSP Crime Branch Kashmir Abdul Waheed Shah. Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of J&K Bank Muneer Hassan Konga Wani, delivered an expert session, sharing his insights with investigating officers from Crime Branch Kashmir and Cybercrime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE). His session focused on the evolving cyber threat landscape and advanced investigative approaches.
The core objectives of the programme focused on investigative officers with in-depth knowledge of cyber frauds, such as phishing, online banking scams, and social media exploitation. Emphasis was placed on adopting robust cybersecurity practices, including cyber hygiene and digital resilience. The programme also aimed to sharpen investigative competencies to effectively handle, analyse, and resolve cybercrime cases. Additionally, the programme also prioritized sharing actionable countermeasures to safeguard citizens and prevent victimization.
