Jammu : As part of the ongoing IEC campaign under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, a mega awareness programme was organised at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Sarwal under the leadership of Principal Anshu Thakur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal graced the occasion and delivered an impactful address, emphasising the importance of collective community action to eliminate the menace of drug abuse.
Several government functionaries including B.D Sharma (CEO Jammu), Veenu Khanna (SMDC member), Kamaljeet Kour (NHRC) and Rajeev Kumar (DICC) attended the event.
Representatives from key departments such as Health, Police, Excise and Social Welfare shared valuable insights. A compelling skit on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was presented by students of Shangrila Public School, while a recovered addict shared his journey of rehabilitation, leaving the audience inspired. The programme concluded with a collective pledge against drug abuse.
Similar awareness initiatives were held at GHSS Kahpohta and PM SHRI GHSS Khanna Chhargal.
At GHSS Kahpohta, Principal Subash Gupta led the campaign, which included speeches from departmental representatives and a street play.
At Khanna Chhargal, the event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a painting competition and nukkad natak. Officials including Dr. Suhasani Jain, Parvez Akhter (Police), Mushtaq Ahmed (Excise) and Principal GHSS Khanna Chhargal Anita Sharma participated.
In another event at Govt. HSS Gundla, Dr. Ruby Naaz Bhatti, PSI Gurvinder Singh and Sarpanch Ghulam Mustafa emphasised the critical need for community engagement in tackling this growing social issue.
