Seoul/New Delhi: Members of an all-party parliamentary delegation, who arrived in Seoul on Saturday night, held a meeting with Indian Ambassador Amit Kumar at the Indian Embassy in the South Korean capital on Sunday.
“As part of India’s outreach mission, we began the first day of our mission in Seoul with a detailed
exchange with the Indian Ambassador, who outlined the roadmap for our Korea engagements and
underscored India’s unflinching commitment to combat terrorism globally,” a member of the delegation said.
“We also held insightful discussions with some of Korea’s foremost strategic thinkers, including former
Vice Ministers, Ambassadors and leading voices from the country’s top think tanks,” TMC general
secretary Abhishek Banerjee said.
He said the dialogue spanned issues of peace, regional stability, and strengthening multilateral efforts to confront the threat of terror.
*In my intervention, I specifically highlighted the deep cultural bond that Koreans share with Kobiguru
Rabindranath Tagore, whose timeless poem ‘The Lamp of the East’ continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Koreans. It is a matter of great pride that his words are still taught in Korean schools and remain embedded in their textbooks even today – A testament to the enduring spiritual and civilizational connection between our peoples,” Banerjee said on his X handle.
He said India and South Korea stand united in New Delhi’s unwavering commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.
“Together, we reaffirm our shared values of peace, resilience and justice in the face of such global
threats,” Banerjee added.
Earlier the Embassy of India in Seoul posted on X: “The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by
Hon’ble MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, began their engagements on Operation Sindoor with a briefing by
Ambassador Amit Kumar. He highlighted the Korea-specific approach to scheduled engagements, setting the context for a strong messaging of India’s stance of zero tolerance against terrorism.”
The all-party parliamentary delegation is led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha.
The delegation also includes CPI(M) MP John Brittas, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, BJP MP Brij Lal, BJP MP Pradan Baruah, Ambassador Mohan Kumar, and BJP MP Hemang Joshi.
The mission marks a continuation of Operation Sindoor, India’s diplomatic outreach following the terror attacks in Pahalgam on April 22 in which Pakistani-backed terrorists gunned down 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir.
