B’la abuzz with sporting spirit: 1600 Students enthrall zones in massive Inter-School Sports Fest

Baramulla: In continuation to the inter-school zonal level sports activities being held across district Baramulla, Youth Services and Sports Baramulla on Thursday successfully conducted a wide range of sports events across multiple zones.
A total of 1356 students from various government and private institutions actively participated in sporting disciplines viz. Badminton, Kho-Kho and Volleyball.
The competitions were held across eleven educational zones of the district, namely Fatehgarh, Nehalpora, Sopore, Pattan, Dangiwacha, Rohama, Chandoosa, Singpora Kalan, Singpora Pattan, Wagoora and Chandanwari. Each zone conducted age-category-based events for both boys and girls, showcasing the sporting enthusiasm among school children.
At HSS Fatehgarh, 70 under-14 and under-17 girls displayed their agility in Volleyball and Kho-Kho. Zone Nehalpora saw 62 under-14 and under-17 boys compete in Badminton at HSS Nehalpora, while Subhana Stadium Sopore hosted 270 boys across both age groups in a spirited display of athleticism.
Zone Pattan’s Sports Planet Palhallan drew in 280 participants—180 boys and 100 girls—in Volleyball. Meanwhile, HSS Dangiwacha witnessed 72 girls vie for victory in Badminton, followed by Zone Rohama’s 38 participants in the under-17 girls category at HSS Rohama. HSS Chandoosa hosted 112 girls in the under-14 Kho-Kho tournament, a spectacle of speed and coordination.
Singpora Kalan and Wagoora conducted Badminton events for girls and boys respectively, with 50 and 90 participants. Zone Singpora Pattan at HS Malmooh drew an impressive crowd of 250 boys for Kho-Kho, underlining the growing popularity of traditional sports in the region. Lastly, HSS Bijhama & BMS Bijhama (Zone Chandanwari) saw 312 students—both boys and girls—actively participate in Badminton, Volleyball, Kho Kho Competitions. The grand event was marked by excellent coordination and smooth conduct across venues.
