DC Kishtwar reviews drug control measures, preparedness for Machail Yatra-2025

Kishtwar : The District-Level NCORD Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan discusses enforcement measures related to drug control and de-addiction efforts in the district.
The meeting began with a comprehensive review of the drug abuse scenario in the district. The DC took detailed feedback from committee members regarding vulnerable areas, affected age groups, and hotspots of drug use. Progress on preventive measures and enforcement actions was thoroughly evaluated.
The DSWO Kishtwar apprised the DC about the upcoming mega awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, scheduled from June 1st to June 26th. The Deputy Commissioner directed all SDMs to mobilize public participation for maximum outreach and impact.
The DC instructed the Drugs Control Department to ensure 100% installation of CCTV cameras in all medical stores across the district by June 20th. He emphasized that legal action and Closure of Shops will be initiated against violators to curb illegal sale and distribution of narcotics.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the preparedness for the annual Machail Yatra. He assessed the progress of infrastructure and sanitation works including construction and renovation of toilets at Gori Shankar Temple, Sarkoot, and along the Gulabgarh-Machail route, repair of the helipad and Yatri Bhawan at Gulabgarh, as well as the tendering process for outsourcing mushroom tents and the Sapphire Guest House.
The DC issued on-the-spot instructions to ensure timely completion and quality control of all allotted works. He also directed GREF, CVPPL, and Kiru-Kwar HEP authorities to ensure regular maintenance of the Kishtwar–Paddar Road for smooth transit during the pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by SSP Naresh Singh; ADC Pawan Kotwal; CEO KDA Kaiser Bhawani, ACR Idrees Ahmed Lone; SDM Chatroo Nayeem Ur Rahman; SDM Paddar Dr. Amit Kumar; EO MC Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal; DSWO Zubair Ahmed and other officers and stakeholders.
