Anantnag: In a significant step towards strengthening rural financial inclusion, Mission Director (MD) Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Dr. Shubra Sharma Tuesday inaugurated a one-day training programme for Self Help Group (SHG) members engaged as Banking Correspondents at Achabal Anantnag.
The training provided by J&K Bank officials aimed to empower SHG members with essential skills and knowledge to function as effective Banking Correspondents, facilitating doorstep banking services for rural communities.
Addressing the participants, MD NRLM emphasized the importance of financial empowerment at the grassroots level. She stated that the engagement of SHG members as Banking Correspondents will play a pivotal role in bringing financial services to the doorsteps of the rural population.
This initiative is expected to not only boost the rural economy but also significantly contribute to holistic rural development, she added.
Dr Sharma further said the programme reflects NRLM’s commitment to creating livelihood opportunities and enhancing financial literacy and access among rural women through capacity building and institutional support.
The event witnessed active participation from SHG members from various clusters of the district, NRLM officials, local bankers, and community members.
