Kishtwar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Wednesday convened a public outreach camp at Block Palmar to directly engage with residents and assess their developmental needs.
A large number of locals, including civil society members, participated in the interaction and projected a range of issues of public importance, including augmentation of infrastructure to improve healthcare, education, road connectivity and other civic amenities.
The key demands brought to the DC’s attention included provision of Fire and Emergency services, construction of boundary wall at local GHSS and adequate staff in the Educational Institutions. They further demanded Bhandarkoot to Ikhala Road, Lower Palmar to Upper Palmar Road and the payment of pending land compensation and Technical sanctioning to the Hatna-Palmar Road.
Responding to the issue of land compensation and technical sanctioning to the Hatna-Palmar Road, the DC assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned higher authorities.
The DC also shared insights into various ongoing schemes across departments, including Mission Yuva, HADP, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Tejasvini Scheme, and the Mumkin Scheme. He urged the youth to actively participate and take full advantage of these initiatives.
Additionally, the DC highlighted the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (RVY Scheme) and urged the general public to avail themselves of the scheme. The DC emphasized 100% saturation of all centrally sponsored schemes in the Block Palmar.
Locals also raised the issue of ambulance service, to which the DC assured prompt redressal on a priority basis.
The AD Handicrafts informed the gathering that an Elementary Training Course Centre under the Handicrafts Department would soon be established in Block Palmar.
Later, the DC distributed school bags among orphaned and underprivileged girl students as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
SSP Naresh Singh, AD FCS&CA Shafqat Ali Keen, DSWO Zubair Ahmed, AD Handicrafts Pardeep Shan, along with other senior officers were present during the visit.
