Reasi: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik on wednesday convened a comprehensive public outreach camp during her tour to Block Panthal conducted to review ongoing developmental works and address public grievances.
The camp was held at the Community Hall, Sira Kotla, Panthal and witnessed active participation from locals, including DDC members, Ex-Sarpanches, Panches and the general public.
During the camp, the locals projected varied demands seeking adequate and safe drinking water supply, road blacktopping and widening, implementation of schemes for Agriculture development, resolving disputes to facilitate execution of projects and timely pension disbursement.
The DC gave a patient hearing to all the concerns and issued on-spot directions to the concerned departments for timely redressal of issues. She instructed the PHE Department to conduct water quality testing, particularly to monitor and reduce calcium levels, and submit an action taken report.
Regarding the delayed cases of widow pensions, she directed the Social Welfare Department officials to make a list of left out beneficiaries and convene a special camp to address the issues.
Addressing electricity-related grievances, DC Malik directed the PDD Department to conduct a thorough assessment for the requirement of additional poles to fix low-lying wires and resolve low voltage issues. She also encouraged locals to avail PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana, while asking the concerned government functionaries to spread community awareness for its broader implementation.
In a move to promote local agriculture, the Agriculture Department was asked to explore the feasibility of establishing a dedicated counter for the local Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to boost output and sales.
The PWD Department was instructed to ensure that all road works are executed as per approved DPRs, and observing zero tolerance against encroachments that might hinder project progress. Discussions were also held to expedite the construction of a vegetable shed near the railway station.
The DC assured the public that all projected issues would be resolved within the stipulated timeframe and that action taken reports would be submitted for monitoring and transparency.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited several developmental sites in Panthal. She inspected the cleanliness of local ponds, reviewed facilities at the Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG), inspected the newly constructed Panchayat Ghar building at Sira Kotla, and visited the lemongrass processing unit and the project being executed under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). She also visited a polyhouse set up by the Agriculture Department and stressed the need to replicate such initiatives to enhance farmer welfare.
Additionally, the DC visited the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) building to review its current status and explore possibilities for its optimal usage. She also interacted with a beneficiary of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, encouraging him to spread awareness about the scheme to help more residents benefit from it.
The outreach program was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, and other district and sectoral officers.
