Srinagar: Below mentioned is the weeklong timeline of the key engagement of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside Jammu & Kashmir this week:-
1. LG’s Call for Resolute Action Against Cross-Border Terror At Top Security Review Meet: LG Manoj Sinha Chaired a security review meeting with DGP Nalin Prabhat and other senior officials. It is the collective resolve of the people of J&K and the nation to destroy the root of terror emanating from our neighborhood. We must be resolute to fulfill this mission.
2. Omar Denounces To Politicise Pahalgam Tragedy For His Statehood Demand: On April 28, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including 25 tourists, during a special J&K Assembly session. He read out victims’ names, emphasizing his responsibility for tourist safety, refused to paint a political colour on his statehood demand, stating it would be “shameful” to politicize the tragedy. Abdullah noted public protests against terrorism as a sign of changing sentiment.
3. LG Sinha Holds Post Pahalgam Meet With DCs, SSPs: Chaired a meeting of DCs and SSPs. Directed them to take appropriate and necessary action to ensure exit of Pakistani nationals from J&K UT as per the deadline notified by Ministry of Home Affairs.
4. CM Omar Reviews Progress Of National Highway Projects In J&K: On 30 April, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of key national highway, expressway and tunnel projects across Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting stressed on the need to identify bottlenecks and enhance inter-agency coordination to ensure time-bound and efficient execution of vital infrastructure works.
5. CM Omar Reviews Summer Preparedness For Jammu Division: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah underscored the importance of robust inter-departmental coordination to ensure uninterrupted essential services and swift response mechanism during the upcoming summer season across Jammu division. Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister assessed the readiness of various departments to address challenges likely to emerge during the summer months.
6. J&K Assembly’s Unanimous Resolution Condemns Pahalgam Killings: On April 28: The J&K Legislative Assembly convened for a Special Session, during which the House unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Pahalgam killings and reaffirming our unwavering commitment to peace and harmony.
7. CS Dulloo Chairs High-Level Meeting On Tourism Recovery: On April 30, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Secretary convened a meeting with tourism stakeholders and administrative heads to address the 80% cancellation rate in tourist bookings reported by the Kashmir Hotel Association after the Pahalgam attack. The Chief Secretary outlined plans for a confidence-building campaign to reassure visitors, including increased security at key destinations like Gulmarg and Srinagar, while urging stakeholders to collaborate on economic recovery efforts
8. Div Com Kashmir Visits Hajj House Bemina, Inspects Arrangements For Hajj 2025: Ahead of the commencement of Hajj-25, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri This week visited Hajj House Bemina to take first hand appraisal of arrangements & basic amenities laid out by various departments. Intending pilgrims would start leaving for the pilgrimage from Sunday, May 04, 2025.
9. CS For Quality, Timely Disposal Of Grievances The Cornerstone Of Admin: In a comprehensive review meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, the functioning of the public grievance redressal system under the JK Samadhan 2.0 portal was evaluated, with a focus on the pace, quality and effectiveness of responses by the Government departments and district administrations. The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Public Grievances Department, along with Administrative Secretaries of various departments while Deputy Commissioners from across the UT participated virtually.
