Sham inaugurates tube well at Maharaja Hari Singh Park Jammu

Jammu: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary Wednesday inaugurated a tube well at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Jammu. The tube well has been installed at a cost of Rs 2 crore by J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency.

Member Legislative Assembly, Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, besides large number of locals were present on the occasion.

Complementing the locals after inaugurating the tube well, the Minister said the tube well will augment the water supply to Water Supply Scheme Gujjar Nagar. He said the tube well will discharge 39,000 gallons per hour (GPH) and add 7 lakh gallons per day to existing 20 lakh GPD capacity of WSS Gujjar Nagar.  He said now the adequate water supply to   people of Gujjar Nagar, Christian Colony, Chand Nagar, Residency Road area adjoining DPS, Dalpatian Mohalla, Khatikan Talab, Mohalla Ramdasian, Peerkho and VIP areas will be ensured.

Sham Choudhary said 6 more tube wells would be installed so that more water supply is ensured to these areas of the city. The old pipes of the area would also be replaced, he maintained.

Calling for concerted efforts in preservation of water resources, the Minister also stressed on the need for judicious use of water. He said the government is committed to provide basic amenities, including adequate water and power supply, to people of the state and has been working in this direction, adding that it can be possible with the cooperation of people. The government has also revived several defunct WSS for ensuring adequate supply of potable water to people, he added.

Expressing his gratitude, MLA Rajesh Gupta thanked Chief Minister after whose intervention the land for installation of tube well was allotted at Maharaja Hari Singh Park.
