Jammu : In an emotional and powerful expression of solidarity and grief, the University of Jammu today organized a solemn candlelight march in memory of the innocent tourists who lost their lives in the barbaric terror attack at Baisaran Pahalgam in Kashmir.
According to a statement issued from public relations office University of Jammu here led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, the senior university functionaries, faculty, staff, and students observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect for the departed souls. Holding flickering candles and heavy hearts, the university fraternity gathered to condemn the inhumane act that shook the conscience of the nation.
Interacting with the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai called for upholding peace and maintaining social harmony during these difficult times, saying “Our strength lies in our unity, our resilience, and our commitment to togetherness.
All associations of the University of Jammu—including the Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA), Jammu University Officer’s Welfare Association (JUOWA), Jammu University Non-Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU), and Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union (JUNGEU)—issued a joint statement expressing their profound anguish and unequivocal condemnation of the cowardly attack.
“This senseless act of brutality is not only an attack on innocent lives, but also an assault on the very ideals of humanity, peace, and unity. Targeting defenceless visitors who come to experience the cultural beauty of Kashmir is a despicable act that deserves the strongest possible rebuke,” the statement added.
In this hour of collective sorrow, the University of Jammu reiterated its steadfast commitment to the ideals of justice, unity, and harmony. The candlelight march was not just a tribute to the victims—it was a loud and clear message that the voices of peace will always outshine the darkness of terror.
