Jammu : Police in Jammu on Wednesday said that Jammu Police, South Zone continues to crack down on illegal mining operations and long-pending criminal cases through coordinated enforcement drives under Operation Ploughing and routine law enforcement efforts.

In a statement issued from the District Police Office, Jammu Police said that under the ongoing anti-mining campaign—Operation Ploughing—a tipper loaded with crusher bajri was intercepted and seized by Police Post Chatha for operating without the mandatory Form A. The vehicle was taken into custody and the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Jammu was duly informed for further legal action.

This proactive measure is part of the sustained strategy to curb unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals, which pose serious threats to the ecological balance and public infrastructure. The South Zone Police, under the supervision of SP South Jammu and the directions of SSP Jammu, continues to take firm steps to ensure environmental and legal compliance.

In a parallel development, Police Station Gandhi Nagar achieved success in arresting a long-pending absconder. The accused, Padam Dev Singh, S/o Shaer Singh Manhas, R/o Ward 59, Jameel Nagar near Raina HS School, Paloura, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 56/2019 under Section 382 RPC. After persistent efforts, the accused was finally apprehended and taken into custody.

These actions underline the Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection, law enforcement, and ensuring that fugitives from justice are brought to account. Jammu Police also appealed people to remain vigilant and continue reporting any instances of illegal mining or suspicious activities, Calling upon them to remain a cornerstone in maintaining law, order, and sustainability in the region.
