Rajouri: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great respect and solemnity at its main campus in Rajouri. The event was organized to honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless crusader for social justice, equality, and human rights.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal,Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar. He stated, “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s legacy continues to illuminate the path toward an inclusive and equitable society. His ideals are deeply embedded in the foundation of our democracy.” He further emphasized the importance of instilling constitutional values in the youth and promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
As part of the celebrations, the NSS wing of the University organized a series of activities, including an online lecture delivered by Dr. Mamta Bhat, Coordinator, Environmental Science. The lecture focused on the relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas in the context of environmental justice and sustainable development. A rally within the university campus was also held, with NSS volunteers and students participating enthusiastically, holding placards and raising slogans that echoed the principles of equality, unity, and justice. A pledge ceremony followed, during which participants reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution of India.
